H21 - (Year 5 to Year 10) The Victorian Coding Challenge supporting coding/programming/STEM in schools - Danijela Draskovic and Max Stephens
(Year 5 To Year 10)
Session Description
Last year (2022) over 2500 students from government primary and secondary schools participated in the VCC. This year, in 2023, we expect that the VCC will grow even larger, and further reaching to both government and non-government schools. This session, coordinated by the MAV, will explain what the VCC is and show how it can be integrated into STEM. Delegates will also experience some of the tasks offered in our virtual kit. Teachers with several years’ experience in running the VCC and in developing a school wide STEM program will provide practical advice on getting involved in the VCC. Further they will discuss the logistics of implementation, as well as the vast benefits for students, other teachers, and the wider school community. See last year’s MAV report on the VCC for more information and background about this exciting program.
